MLB Opening Day – Lindor Got PAID Paid

Mets gave Lindor 341 million over 10 years. That’s a silly amount of money. It’ll be fun seeing him and Pete Panda in the same lineup.

Blue Jays/Yankees under 8 for 1 unit. Trusting Cole and Ryu here.

Tigers ML +156 for 1 unit. Matthew Boyd is a stud, I like him as the starter for Detroit at this value. Shane Bieber is filthy too, but let’s have some fun with the plus money.

Braves ML +107 for 1 unit. Nola didn’t make it 3 innings in one of his recent starts against the Braves.

Padres -1.5 at -120 for 1 unit. MadBum don’t scare me in April.

Rays ML at -152 for 1 unit. Rays are just better than the Marlins.

Angles ML at -101 for 1 unit. I think the Angels are going to be good this year (like most people do every year and they never are, maybe I am the dumb one this year).

Athletics ML at -105 for 2 units. Athletics were my team last year until the Matt Chapman injury. They can hit and play defense. Things I like on opening day.

Arkansas +8 for 3 units. Arkansas are a solid rebounding team. The Razorbacks play up and down and should be able to keep up with Baylor. The Bears should win, but beating an Arkansas team by double digits won’t be easy.

Houston -8 for 3 units. Houston are just too good at defense. I’m not convinced Oregon State will be able to keep up with Houston’s scoring. It’s that simple.

Heat -190 for 3 units. Miami should have won their past two games. My Hornets beat them on some stellar shooting. Blazers beat them because McCollum went off and there were some phantom fouls called against Duncan Robinson. If Miami can’t beat the Knicks tonight, they may not even make the playoffs.

Raptors -155 for 3 units. Raptors -1 1Q for 3 units. If the Raptors can’t beat the worst team in the league, I won’t bet on them again this season.

Celtics/Pelicans over 229.5 for 3 units. Two bottom 10 teams in defensive ratings here. Just gonna send it.

Kings +2.5 for 3 units. Kings have been hot. Fox is a monster.

Cleveland Cavaliers +16 for 3 units. Jazz gotta get tired of beating these “bad” teams.

Bucks +2.5 for 3 units. Bucks are better at defense and 3-point shooting. I’ll take the points.

Flyers -1.5 at +125 for 3 units. Score in first 10 at -155 for 3 units.

Avalanche -1.5 at -170 for 3 units. Score in first 10 at -155 for 3 units. Just goin on favorites to dominate tonight.

NBA Trade Deadline Recap

  1. Bucks get PJ Tucker, Rodions Kurucs, and their 2022 first round pick. Rockets get D.J. Augustin, D.J. Wilson, 2021 first-round pick (pick swap, Top 9 protected) & 2023 first-round pick. Rockets just had to get something for PJ Tucker, but I don’t think this was enough. The Bucks get a decent 3 point shooter and a defender that can guard 3 different positions. Milwaukee won this trade.
  2. Nuggets get JaVale McGee. Cavs get Isaiah Hartenstein & 2 future 2nd-Round Picks. Nuggets get an expiring athletic center. Solid trade for both teams. Cavs get picks to play with and Nuggets get another piece to push for the title.
  3. Bulls get Nikola Vucevic and Aminu. Magic get Otto Porter Jr, Wendell Carter Jr, and 2 future first rounders. Orlando are blowing it up. Bulls get a great center in Vucevic. Bulls are currently the 10 seed and want to push for the playoffs. Otto is an expiring contract to make salaries match. Wendell Carter might be good, might not. This frees up a lot of space for Mo Bamba to get more minutes.
  4. Magic get Jeff Teague & 2 Second Round Picks. Celtics get Evan Fournier. Celtics get some much needed wing depth and another 3-point shooter. Magic get more picks and another expiring contract.
  5. Magic get Gary Harris, RJ Hampton & a 1st Round Pick. Nuggets get Aaron Gordon & Gary Clark. Nuggets starting lineup gets better at the cost of some young talent. Denver clearly believe they can win the title this season. Time will tell, but I like their moves. Got to go for a ring at some point. The Joker, Murray, and Aaron Gordon are a strong threesome. RJ Hampton might be a stud one day, but Gordon is better.
  6. Trailblazers get Norman Powell. Raptors get Gary Trent Jr & Rodney Hood. This trade is kind of a wash to me. I like Gary Trent Jr a lot so I’d say the Raptors win this trade, but I’m biased.
  7. Heat get Victor Oladipo. Rockets get Kelly Olynyk, Avery Bradley and a draft pick swap. Houston just had to get something for Oladipo. Maybe Victor will get healthy and help Miami in the playoffs.

There were other trades like JJ Reddick goin to the Mavs for James Johnson. Rajon Rondo going back to LA to play for the Clippers for Lou Williams. Lou gets to eat his lemon pepper wings in Atlanta again. He’s already broken quarantine for them once! Shoutout Jack Harklow. My Hornets got their man – BRAD WANAMAKER.

The Magic basically sold out for draft picks and so they can play their young talent more minutes. Their roster wasn’t working so I like what they did. Time will tell if it will make them better. Denver are clearly pushing for a title and can’t hate on that. Bulls get a lot better in their starting lineup to try and win a playoff series. It wasn’t the craziest deadline with Kyle Lowry and others not moving, but it still could change the NBA playoffs this year. Bulls and Nuggets are the big winners for this season. Magic are winners for the future if they can draft correctly, as well as RJ Hampton and others panning out.

VCU +5 at -110 for 10 units MAX PLAY. Bones Hyland, VCU’s best player, lost two his family members in a fire that started while he was watching this tournament three years ago. The man is going to give it his all in this game and the team will follow. That type of passion is what makes college basketball great. Oregon have not beat anybody great this season. I am confused on why they are favored by 5 and I honestly had this game as a push. I am taking these points with no fear. Ace Baldwin for VCU is one of the best freshman facilitators in the country no cap. FULL Disclosure: I graduated from VCU and love Oregon’s uniforms. So I usually get blinded by my love for my school and my love Oregon’s “fun” uniforms. So this could be a case of the blind leading the blind.

Colorado -6 for 3 units. This Colorado team is one of the best they’ve had in years. They will prove it today.

St Bonnies/LSU under 144 for 3 units. The A-10’s best defensive team will force the under here.

Alabama -16.5 for 3 units. Alabama have been a honey hole for me in 2021 (football title game, first game against LSU when they were barely favored in basketball and won by 100). Bama can play D and make 3s. Things I love in betting basketball.

Oklahoma pk for 3 units. I’ve watched 4 Oklahoma games this season. They looked amazing in two, okay in one, and shithousery in one. I’m hoping for the amazing today. Never forget when Buddy Hield lit up the tournament.

UCSB +7.5 for 2 units. I have Creighton winning in my bracket and then beating Virginia, but let’s have some fun and cheer for the underdawg to cover.

It’s 11:24 PM EST and I have to get up for work at 6 so no write ups really. I’ll be drinking IPAs writing and watching these games for a more complete writeup Saturday.

I will say if Drexel taught you anything, Don’t bet -2’s. Bet the favorites ML if anything.

UNC -1 for 4 units. UNC’s big men should eat.

North Texas +7 for 4 units. I watched North Texas play VCU tough last year live. I miss going to live sporting events. Nah but really, I think North Texas is underrated and Purdue is overrated. Crazier things have happened in March.

Texas Tech -4 for 4 units. TT has underperformed this season in my eyes. All that can change with a good tourney showing.

Virginia Tech pk for 4 units. Florida is trash.

Illinois/Drexel under 144 for 4 units. I see a 75-55 type of game here.

It’s Finally HERE!!!

Drake -130 for 4 units. “Don’t think about it too much” Just bet it baby! Tyson Etienne can ball for the Shockers. Drake just extended their coach, DeVries, for 8 more years for a reason. 4 More Years! Twice! Darnell Brodie is a solid big man for Drake and the Bulldogs have guards. Good formula in March – good guards and a big man. The Shockers are the public favorite and have the more March experience, but I like Drake.

UCLA +2 for 2 units. UCLA hasn’t won a game since 2/25. They are due! The Bruins are 11-0 when they hold opponents to 62 points or fewer and 6-9 when opponents exceed 62 points. Michigan State can struggle to score at times. I like UCLA to cover in a close game. I like the under a little too, but life’s too short to bet an under on the first day of the long-awaited March Madness.

Michigan -9 for 3 units.

Michigan/Maryland over 132.5 for 3 units. Michigan should prove why they are a top-10 team today. Maryland does not have the talent Michigan has. Wiggins and Ayala looked solid for Maryland in a good win against MSU. Maryland just has too many droughts on offense for them to keep up with Michigan. I like the over because Michigan can score at will.

Alabama -8 for 6 units. Mississippi State’s win over Kentucky doesn’t impress me much, although at least Kentucky played unlike Dook. Bama can get just as hot as anybody in college basketball from 3. Makes them fun to bet on. They should win this game by double digits. Maybe bet Miss St 1H as a hedge, but I ain’t scared enough to do that.

North Texas +1 for 3 units. Javion Hamlett and the Mean Green are only a slight underdog against the 1 seed for a reason. North Texas can limit their turnovers and make 3s. A combo I like in March.

Florida St ML -140 for 3 units. FSU should get revenge on UNC today. I hope the Heels win. I think the Noles win.

Texas -1 for 3 units. Kansas doesn’t impress me. They do play great defense, but Texas is the more athletic team. Goin with former VCU coach Shaka Smart’s squad here.

Haven’t written an article since I predicted the Bama/OSU National Title game perfectly. Won 26 units on college football this past season. It was a fun ride. Shoutout to Iowa and Bama.

Gambling has become legal in more states since last time I wrote (like Virginia), BTC keeps going up, Trump is no longer President, Hornets have the best player in the league in LaMelo Ball. Panthers are gonna get Watson I hope. Good time to be a North Carolinian living in Virginia besides all this COVID shit. Going to start posting my plays religiously like I used to when I was a younger better man. I am no longer going to use working at a hospital during a global pandemic as an excuse.

National Championship Monday – Alabama vs. Ohio State

7-3 on College Football this season Up 20.33 units

Alabama -6 1H at -106 for 6 units. Bama has dominated every team they have played. I was surprised at how good OSU’s wideouts and D-line looked against Clemson. My “OSU hasn’t played anybody logic” may have backfired (not like Clemson beat anybody that great.. sorry Notre Dame). Fields looked amazin vs Clemson. Most of the season he looked pretty pedestrian though. Was the Clemson game an anomaly? Maybe, but Alabama has a better defense, especially in the secondary, this season when compared to Clemson. Shaun Wade is not good enough in OSU’s secondary to cover Bama’s wideouts. OSU’s safeties are even worse. Cornell Powell had over 5 receptions and 100 yards against Shaun Wade in the semi-final. Cornell Powell did not win the heisman like DeVonta Smith did.

Bama finished with the highest point total in the country at 48.2 points a game. Sermon is the only guy that worries me a little. He has looked like a beast over the past 3 games, but I ain’t scared. Roll Tide. Dabo ranked this OSU team 11th, so they must not be as good as Bama…….
