Giants owner John Mara said today about Beckham, “I wish he would create the headlines by his play on the field as opposed to what he says and what he does off the field. I think he needs to do a little more playing and a little less talking.”
Well it is hard to create headlines with play when Eli is your quarterback. Odell does need to be better. His muffed punt against the Panthers ended up causing them the game. In a ideal world, the Maras would stay out of player personnel decisions, but they are paying Odell 5 million more dollars a year than that Tom Brady guy gets paid. Seems like John Mara is dissing a guy that he agreed to pay all this money.
Lawerence Taylor said this in 1987, “For me, crazy as it seems, there is a real relationship between wild, reckless abandon off the field and being that way on the field.” Odell’s offseason video of a stripper doing cocaine in his bed was (pretty awesome) a huge red flag. LT, the best Giant of all-time, knows a thing or two about that life. OBJ needs to get his act together or he’s gonna be a problem even when he is done playing football. It seems Odell doesn’t have his priorities right and it has affected the Giants product on the field for the past two seasons. The Patriots will most likely trade a 4th round pick for Odell in the near future..

Fading the public on both of these bets.
Thunder +13 for 2 units. The Thunder were 3-1 ATS against the Warriors last season. Andre Roberson being back, along with no Carmelo, will help the Oklahoma City defense. Dennis Schroder will step up with Westbrook out. PG13 will be who the offense goes through tonight. Warriors have lost their last two ring ceremony home openers. Warriors had 47 turnovers combined against the Thunder in their two loses last season. Golden State usually starts the season out a little sloppy. Thunder will get up for this one.
76ers +5 for 2 units. Joel Embiid will use last season’s postseason losses to Boston as motivation in this one. Philly’s ceiling can go a little bit higher if Markelle Fultz plays to his full potential. The Celtics have a lot more depth than the 76ers, but both have stacked starting lineups. These are the top two teams in the East. I think this will be a close game so I will take the points.

Betting against the Indians and Yankees has been profitable so far. Brewers got up on the Dodgers in the first behind a Braun RBI double and never looked back. Chacin pitched another gem. That slider of his is unpredictable and funky. Travis Shaw hit a 2 out triple in the 6th and then scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 Brewers. Orlando Arcia added a two run homer in the 7th for some added insurance.
The Dodgers put up a fight in the 9th with a Turner single and then Machado double, but then Jeffress got Bellinger to pop out, walked Puig, and then struck out Grandal and Dozier. This Brewers bullpen is just too good. I know they have struggled some this postseason, but I wouldn’t bet against them. Knebel and Hader might be the best two relievers in baseball.
Red Sox at +118 for 3 units. Dallas Keuchel gave up 5 earned runs the last time he faced the Red Sox. That was also the last time he faced a playoff team. Keuchel has 9.15 career ERA against Boston. Nathan Eovaldi gave up 4 earned runs the last time he played the Astros, but that was in June when he pitched for the Rays. Eovaldi is a better pitcher at this point in the season. Both of these teams can hit, but I like Boston to take the series lead tonight. Last time the Red Sox were tied 1-1 in a series, they beat the Yankees 16-1.
Brewers at +138 for 3 units. Rich Hill gave up 2 earned runs in 4 and a third his last time out. Rich Hill is a slightly worse pitcher at home. The Brewers have won the last 6 games that Gio Gonzalez has pitched in for them. Austin Barnes will get the start over Yasmani. Yasmani had too many errors last game. The LA crowd got louder for Yasmani’s errors than anything positive their team did. Brewers pitching is so damn good. If Milwaukee gets up in this game, they will win again.

Klizan/Millman/Dzumhur parlay for 2 units to win 6.12 units. Klizan has won the last two meetings against Andreas Seppi in straight sets. Also, Seppi has lost 7 of his last 10 matches, while Klizan has won 7 of his last 10 matches. Millman beat Popyrin in straight sets the only other time they have met on hardcourt. Millman hasn’t won a set since the US Open (only played in one tournament since then), but he will win this match. Damir Dzumhur is defending his title here. Damir has been in awful form, but he is much more talented than Egor Gerasimov. The Bosnian #1 won the only H2H meeting in straight sets.
Simon/Kukushkin parlay for 2 units to win 2.14 units. Gilles Simon has won all 3 H2H meetings against Sergiy Stakhovsky. Simon struggles against strong servers, Sergiy is more of a return player and that is why Simon has such a positive history against him. Mikhail Kukushkin has a 7-2 lead in the H2H against Evgeny Donskoy. Mikhail has made it to the semi-final or further here 3 times. Donskoy has lost 7 matches in a row.
Taylor Fritz at +113 for 3 units. Fritz is not as talented as Hyeon Chung, but he is in better form. Chung also lacks the fitness needed to go far in a tournament. Chung has been losing to players with way less talent than Fritz. Chung should be the heavy favorite, but he is a soft favorite, which makes me bet against him and this “fishy at first” line.
Denis Istomin at +113 for 3 units. Istomin won the only other meeting on the hardcourt in straight sets. Istomin is in better form as of late. Berankis is only here as a lucky loser. Uzbek #1 Denis Istomin won his last opening round meeting here. Istomin has won 5 of his last 7 opening round matchups here in Moscow. Istomin has a better history at this tournament, is in better form, and has the H2H history on this surface.
