MLB August 28th

63-59 on the MLB up 10.07 units

Phillies at +104 for 3 units. The aces are pitching today in this one. Aaron Nola for the Phillies and Max Scherzer for the Nats. Nola is 3-0 vs the Nats this season. The Phillies have been slipping of late and are now 3.5 games back of the Braves. This should be a close game, but I think Nola and the Phillies will win it.

Rays at +113 for 3 units. Rays have won 8 in a row and are now an underdog. They know they have to keep winning if they want to make the playoffs. Just riding the hot hand here. The Rays just swept the Red Sox and they looked like a playoff team in that series. I don’t expect that to just disappear.

MLB August 27th

62-57 on the MLB up 12.35 units

Rays keep winning and if Snell can keep pitching like he is, he will win the Cy Young. Goldschmidt hit a home run that is still flying somewhere. Severino and the Yankees got another win. The Yanks are now 6 games back of their rival Red Sox. Gausman got another win with the Braves. It is shaping up to be a fun end of the season with a month left.

Blue Jays at -130 for 2 units. Neither starting pitcher is great in this one and the Orioles just can’t buy a win. Kendrys Morales will tie a MLB record if he homers in this game because he will have a home run in 8 straight games. He will be tied with Ken Griffey Jr., Don Mattingly, and Dale Long. Griffey did it last in 1993. Cedric Mullins, the Orioles best player of late, is also out..

Cubs at -135 for 2 units. Syndergaard does not scare me too much and the Cubs are hot. It is that simple.

Rockies at -140 for 2 units. Odrisamer Despaigne has been pretty terrible in his two decisions and I expect that to continue. It is always tough for a longtime bullpen pitcher to start starting games. Jon Gray has been solid this season and the Rockies need a win to keep up with the Diamondbacks. Arenado is also silly hot right now, batting .333 in August.

MLB August 23rd

61-57 on the MLB up 10.06 units

Tigers at -131 for 3 units. I like Matthew Boyd more than I like James Shields. Shields just gives up way too many homers for my liking. White Sox are a pitiful 16-38 in day games and today is another game day. White Sox do not hit lefties as well as righties and Boyd is a lefty.

MLB August 21st

59-57 on the MLB up 5.26 units

Twins at -113 for 3 units. Michael Kopech will make his debut for the White Sox. Kopech will try to add some life to this dreary White Sox season. Berrios is 7-1 vs the White Sox in his career and he gets the start for the Twins tonight. Berrios leads the Twins in strikeouts and wins and I think he gets another win tonight.

Padres/Rockies under 10.5 at -113 for 2 units. Robbie Erlin gives up less than a homer every 10 innings and I like his ability to control a game. Tyler Anderson has been average this season, but he has given up only 5 earned runs in his last 5 starts at home. I like this under even if it is in Colorado.

MLB August 20th

58-57 on the MLB up 1.81 units

Braves at +115 for 3 units. Chris Archer fade. I love betting against him. I thought this line would favor the Pirates by a lot more so I am going against my gut a little bit here and zagging. Kevin Gausman has looked solid in all of his starts for the Braves. Gausman is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA since he joined Atlanta. I think Atlanta’s bats get hot today.

MLB August 18th

57-55 on the MLB up 7.31 units

Been riding the Diamondbacks against the Padres and it has worked well. Going to go back to an old formula today – which is essentially betting against bad pitchers.

Indians at -188 for 4 units. Alex Cobb has only won 3 games all season and now he faces the Indians. Indians are 29-16 in day games while the O’s are 15-31. Indians are just better and I expect that to show today.

Braves at -150 for 3 units. Senzatela is fine for the Rockies, but the Braves will get their revenge for losing last night.

Cardinals at -150 for 3 units. Wade Miley has been pitching well recently, but he still does not scare me at all.

MLB August 16th

56-55 on the MLB up 4.34 units

2-1 since All-Star Break up 2.98 units

Twins pulled through for me yesterday after going down in the 4th inning. Logan Forsythe just kept getting on base for the Twins. Really the Pirates played the better game, but they left too many runners on base. The Mets had a 9 run sixth inning that made that an easy win. The Giants lost in extras but that game was a coin flip after San Francisco scored 3 runs in the 8th.

Diamondbacks at -135 for 4 units. One of the better teams vs what I think is the worst team. Jacob Nix gets the start for the Padres and he has only pitched 6 innings all season. Padres are 2-18 in home series openers this season. Buchholz has pitched two games at Petco in his career and won them both. Not going to overthink this one.

MLB August 15th

54-54 on the MLB up 1.36 units

Going to get back to posting. I haven’t bet on MLB since before the all star break, but have been watching for the past few weeks and feel confident enough to make some plays. Now that soccer has started and the NFL is about to start back up, I will be back on the betting horse.

I won a lot of money on Tennis, Golf, NHL Playoffs, and the NBA Playoffs this year… and then took a break, now I have the itch again..

Twins at -126 for 4 units. I do not believe in Archer. He is too inconsistent for me. All it takes is one hanging pitch from Archer for the Twins to win. The Pirates have not been hitting all that well and I expect that trend to continue. Twins play better at home. Jose Berrios leads the Twins in wins and strikeouts. Go Minnesota here.

Mets at -112 for 2 units. Mets can’t get swept on the season by the Orioles… right?

Giants at +165 for 2 units. Giants are going for the sweep tonight. The LA’s bats have been fairly silent this series and I expect that to continue tonight. Neither one of these starting pitchers has good numbers agains the other team, so I am going with the heavy underdog.

MLB May 17th

50-51 on MLB in 2018 up 3.11 units

4-2 yesterday and went up 3.98 units

Pivetta struck out 11 in the Phillies win over the Orioles. The Pirates completed the season sweep of the White Sox. Trevor Bauer struck out 10 in his shutout of the Tigers. Lance Lynn got another loss on the season, but this time it was against the team he won a World Series with (Cardinals). Blue Jays shitpumped the Mets. Bartolo Colon got a win and hit in his stomach. Colon said “his belly can take it”. Gennet is still raking for the Reds as they keep winning (even though they are 15-29). Chris Sale and the Red Sox avoided the sweep vs the Athletics. Verlander got his 8th career complete game shutout and struck out Shohei Ohtani for his 2,500 K. Also, the Braves young players are good, like real good.

Pirates at -143 for 2 units. Padres just are not very good. Eric Lauer gave up 6 earned runs in 2.1 innings his last time out. Pirates are averaging over 5 runs a game in their last 5 games. Pirates have a better team BA, ERA, BAA, OBP, and slugging percentage.

Blue Jays at -112 for 2 units. Toronto’s bats woke up yesterday and now they get to face Andrew Triggs. The Nashville native Triggs has given up a lot of home runs this season and I expect that to continue tonight. I expect a high scoring game, but the 9.5 number is tough to call on the over/under.

Angels at -167 for 4 units. Chris Archer has been bad this season. Archer will be up 0-2 in a count and hang a slider. His numbers are not awful, but they should be a lot better for a guy of his ability. Archer just lacks consistency. Angels will take advantage of that lack of consistency tonight. Angels are coming out of a tough series with the Astros and playing the Rays will be a breath of fresh air (not that the Rays are bad, Astros are just great). Tyler Skaggs has given up only 2 earned runs in each of his last 3 starts, but they have all been losses for the Angels. I think Skaggs gets back on the winning track tonight.

Tigers at +160 for 2 units. Matthew Boyd last pitched against the Mariners and Marco Gonzales last pitched against the Tigers. They both take the mound tonight for their respective teams. Boyd gave up 3 hits last time he faced the Mariners. Gonzales gave up 10 hits last time he faced the Tigers. I’ll let you decided which team won that matchup. This line is fishy and usually I would zag and take the Mariners, but I am zigging tonight.

Rockies at +125 for 1 unit. Rockies have struggled to hit the ball this season away from home, but Jeff Samardzija may be the remedy they need. Samardzija has given up 5 earned runs in his last two starts. Samardzija has not pitched well since 4/20. Rockies are an impressive 16-9 on the road. Chad Bettis has been great since he recovered from cancer. Cancer can go to hell. Bettis struggled last time out, but he has only given up 5 earned runs in 5 road starts.

MLB May 16th

46-49 on MLB in 2018 down 0.87 units

2-4 yesterday but went up 0.90 units

Rockies only got one hit against Jordan Lyles in the Padres win. Tigers came back from 4 down to beat the Indians. Syndergaard and the Mets got another win. Alex Wood and the Dodgers got another loss. Altuve got a weak 3 RBI double to beat the Angels. Heredia had a walk off for the Mariners the day the 80 game Cano suspension was laid out.

Pirates at -173 for 4 units. Pirates going for the season sweep of the White Sox today. The White Sox have lost all 10 games Hector Santiago has pitched in this season. Pirates are just better than the White Sox across the board.

Cardinals at -112 for 2 units. Mikolas has not lost a game all season for the Cardinals. St. Louis has lost 2 in a row, I think that changes today. Lance Lynn just gives up too many baserunners for the Twins.

Rays at -109 for 1 unit. Jason Hammel fade.

Diamondbacks at +103 for 1 unit.

Diamondbacks – Brewers over 8.5 for 1 unit. Brandon Woodruff fade. Brewers are only 5-10 in day games. Woodruff gave up 7 runs in 3 innings his last time out. Arizona has the second highest elevation for an MLB ballpark. Both these teams are injured, but I like the over.

Athletics at +233 for 1 unit. Value play. Chris Sale is good, but Trevor Cahill has been solid for the A’s this season. Red Sox are not as hot as earlier in the season. Boston strikeouts too much for my liking. Oakland’s bullpen has been impressive this season.
