January Transfer Window – Pulisic to Chelsea

The noteworthy January transfer window transactions:

Christian Pulisic/Dortmund has signed an American record 73 million dollar deal with Chelsea. Chelsea will loan him back to Dortmund until the end of the season. Good business by Dortmund. Dortmund have an amazing scouting department. A lot of Chelsea fans will be popping up in the United States, especially near Hershey Pennsylvania, where Christian is from. I have some friends that are Fulham fans because of Dempsey… Chelsea is a lot easier of a team to be a fan of. Thorgan Hazard is rumored to be the replacement for Pulisic at Dortmund. Eden Hazard still hasn’t signed a new contract with Chelsea… is a move to Real Madrid looming?

Keylor Navas has signed a 16 million Euro deal with Arsenal. Good business for Arsenal. Navas makes their first 11 better for less than 20 million. Have to do it.

Samir Nasri signed with West Ham after his 18-month doping ban. Nasri has played well at Marseille, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Sevilla. If he can find some solid form, he could add some needed creativity to the West Ham attack.

The 36-year-old-free-kick-taking Naldo has signed with Monaco. He adds some experience to a young, underachieving Monaco club. Thierry Henry needs his Monaco club to start playing better futbol if he wants to manage there next season.

Premier League Wednesday

92-78-9 on Soccer in 2018 up 8.17 units

Ended 2018 on a rough patch in soccer, but what goes down must come up or whatever.

Manchester United -1 at +105 for 3 units. Newcastle’s only recent win is against Huddersfield 1-0. The Magpies have lost 70% of their home games this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Man United have scored 12 goals in their past 3 games. Manchester United have struggled to keep clean sheets lately, but there is a good chance they secure one here. Rashford and Pogba are in-form. Lukaku will most likely start as he is back fit. Going with the hotter team in this one.

Crystal Palace +0.5 at -124 for 4 units. Wolves haven’t tied in their last 8 premier league home matches. There is a solid chance they draw today. Palace beat Man City last time they had an away match. Palace’s defense has looked a little better over the past few matches. They lost 1-0 to Chelsea and drew Cardiff 0-0. Andros Townsend can score from anywhere on the pitch. Zaha will make the Wolves defense work. Palace have more attacking options and an improving defense. I like them to draw or win here.

New Year’s Day College Football

53-37 on College Football in 2018 up 44.48 units

14-8 on Bowls up 15.11 units

Mississippi St. -7 at -102 for 3 units. Iowa hasn’t beat a ranked opponent all year. Mississippi State allows only 12 points a game. Bulldog players opted to play instead of sit out for the draft. They will dominate this game.

LSU -7 at -132 for 2 units. I want UCF to win, but the numbers say they won’t.

Ohio State -7 at +112 for 2 units. Urban Meyer retirement game (again). He doesn’t want to be a distraction, but hey everyone I”m retiring after this game look at me. Haskins does enough in this one.

Georgia/Texas under 59 for 4 units. I think this game has a similar game-script to the Clemson-Notre Dame game. I just can’t see Texas getting many points against this Georgia defense. Texas has played in nine one-possession games this season.. Georgia does have some players skipping this game for the draft, like the Jim Thorpe Award winner, Deandre Baker. I want to bet Georgia -12, but Texas has the ability to keep games close. I think the under is the smart play here.
