MLB May 31st

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

7-6-1 on MLB this season up 6.21 units

I am on my 3rd New Belgium Voodoo Ranger as of writing this, but I punched my plays in before I started drinking. So you’re still in sober, safe hands.. sorta. The Rays just keep winning. The Yankees just keep getting rained out. The Twitter world wants longer nets for more coverage from foul balls. The Facebook world wants people to not pay for nice tickets and take their kids into the danger zone. Quite the raging debate. Seems like extended nets are a simple solution, but asking baseball to change is like asking Draymond Green not to talk junk.

Brewers at -116 for 4 units. Chachin has allowed a lot of baserunners, but Archer has allowed even more when divided by innings pitched and averaged out math blah blah. Yelich has 21 homers already.. 21! Brewers hit 4 homers yesterday without Yelich. Two starting pitchers that have been underperforming, but I like the Brewers today.

Cardinals at -124 for 4 units. Yu Darvish has struggled with control all season. Today he faces the strong St. Louis lineup. Kris Bryant will get cussed at today. Miles Mikolas had 9 Ks and no walks in his last outing for St. Louis. Darvish and Mikolas have similar season stats, but Mikolas has the upper hand lately.

Rays at -119 for 3 units. Rays are hot.

MLB May 30th

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

6-6 on MLB this season up 4.08 units

Rays at -141 for 3 units. Rays have won 5 in a row.

Yankees at +135 for 3 units. Yankees are hot and already hit Sale well this season.

MLB May 14th

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

5-5 on MLB this season up 4.24 units

Posting late. Keeping it short.

Royals at -138 for 3 units. Shelby Miller has given up 53 baserunners in 27 innings pitched this season. Fading him and the Rangers tonight.

Giants at -125 for 3 units. Trent Thornton is 0-4 this season. He is starting for the Blue Jays against SF tonight.

MLB May 13th

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

5-3 on MLB this season up 8.24 units

Tigers at +140 for 2 units. Matthew Boyd of the Tigers has pitched 13 more innings than Brad Peacock of the Astros. Peacock has allowed more home runs though. Boyd averages well over a strikeout an inning. Brandon Dixon has been hot since Detroit picked up off of waivers. Tigers have a winning record at home (barely). Astros have a losing record on the road (barely). Good value here with Detroit’s ace on the mound.

Yankees/Orioles over 8.5 at -110 for 2 unit. No Yankee player has more than 5 ABs against the starter for Baltimore today, Daniel Hess. 5 Yankee players have homered against him though. Yankees scored 7 in their last game. The bats are waking up. Aaron Hicks is returning. Orioles lost 15-3 the last time Hess started against the Yankees. All we need is half of those runs today.

MLB May 6th – Christian Yelich Homers in Return

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

3-3 on MLB this season up 0.86 units

Brewers/Rays parlay risking 3 units to win 5.78 units. Max Scherzer hasn’t been his normal self this season. His Strikeout/Walk ratio is still great, but he’s been giving up a good amount of hits. Brewers play better in Night games. Chacin only gave up two hits in his last start for the Brewers. Yelich is back. Chacin is 5-2 with a 2.88 ERA in 10 career starts against Washington. Rendon, Turner, and Zimmerman are all out for Washington.

Blake Snell will slow down the Diamondbacks and their 13-7 record on the road.

Adam Eaton over 1.5 hits at +150 for 1 unit. Eaton is 4-14 vs Chacin in his career. His familiarity will help him out.

Cinco De Mayo MLB

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

3-2 on MLB this season up 3.86 units

Cardinals at +122 for 3 units. I’ll keep it simple. Goldschmidt, Ozuna, Martinez, and Fowler are all batting over .400 against Quintana in their careers. Nobody in Chicago’s starting lineup is batting over .300 against Wainwright. St. Louis has struggled against lefties this season (league worse .203 batting average against lefties), but I like them at plus money today.

MLB May 3rd

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

2-2 on MLB this season down 0.15 units

Tigers/Brewers Parlay risking 2 units to win 4.01 units. The Mets can’t hit and Christian Yelich can. When Jesse Winker waves you off in a May baseball game. You really can’t hit.

I love Matthew Boyd for the Tigers, and so do the numbers. Boyd has 48 strikeouts and has only given up two homers in 37.1 innings this season. Detroit’s bats have to heat up sometime and why not against Jorge Lopez, who has given up at least 4 earned runs in his last 3 starts. Detroit only has 21 homers on the season. They have played 28 games. Both of those numbers will go up today.

May 1st MLB

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

1-2 on MLB this season down 4.50 units

Phillies -1.5 at -115 for 5 units. Don’t normally like taking home team run lines unless I am super confident. Aaron Nola has had an ERA under 3 in his last 2 starts for Philadelphia. Daniel Norris allowed 10 hits and 4 runs in his last outing against the White Sox. Both pitchers have a 1.58 WHIP, but Nola has looked better recently. Norris allows too many baserunners and the Phillies get some key hits that they couldn’t get yesterday.

MLB Friday

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

1-0 on MLB this season up 2.50 units

Mariners at -129 for 4 units. Seattle has a few players that have hit Reynaldo Lopez, the pitcher for the White Sox today, well in the past. Nobody on the White Sox starting 9 has faced Seattle pitcher Yusei Kikuchi yet. Opponents are only hitting .200 against Kikuchi this season. Dee Gordon may be the best 9-hole hitter in baseball. Tim Beckham has been making solid contact so far this season for Seattle as well. Seattle should keep their home-run streak going in this one.

Red Sox at -121 for 3 units. J.D. Martinez plays against one his former teams today when the Red Sox visit the Diamondbacks. The Red Sox are 2-6 this season with all their games being played on the road. Manager Alex Cora said the attention to detail has not been there for the Red Sox this season. Jake Lamb is out for Arizona. Paul Goldschmidt got traded in the off-season. Arizona are hitting the ball well surprisingly with all their losses this off-season, but I like the Red Sox to get back to winning tonight. Both starting pitchers, Rick Porcello and Zack Godley struggled in their first start.

MLB Begins

92-83 on MLB last season and went up 34.31 units

The MLB should start their season when the NCAA tournament doesn’t have games… but they don’t and casual fans forget it starts every season. This season was “special” because Ichiro retired in Japan at around 5 AM EST to start the MLB season. Seems like that should have been a bigger deal, but Zion almost losing, Zion almost losing, and then Zion losing obviously overshadowed Ichiro’s retirement.

Braves at -120 for 3 units. Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson have been one of the best hitting middle infields in this young season. Yu Darvish fade.
